The Overton Recreation Centre is looking for a new secretary to replace the present incumbent who is stepping down from the Management Committee at the AGM in April.
We are looking for a volunteer who can devote a few hours each month to the important task of facilitating and ensuring the effective functioning of the committee. This involves the usual secretarial work of minute taking and general assistance as necessary to the chairman and other committee members. There is also some work involved in preparing returns to the local authority and insurance matters.
The ORC is a charity run entirely by volunteers and is responsible for the management and upkeep of the three recreational facilities in Overton – the Bridge Street Pavilion and recreation ground, the Town Meadow golf course and hut, and the Ken Hogan Pavilion and sports facility at Berrydown. Its Management Committee consists of about 16 members, drawn mostly from associated clubs and societies and meets on the first Monday of each month.
If you would like to help us run this important charity contributing significantly to the recreational, social and community life in Overton, please contact Chairman Graham Devereux on 07846 368760 or the Secretary Lindsay Ferguson on 771208 who will be pleased to explain more about the ORC and what the work involves.
